In the morning, she had a roof above her head, a cozy house, and a peaceful life. As soon as the darkness enveloped the night, she became roofless, homeless, and melancholy entered the fissures of her peaceful life. She’s Sultana Bi, a 34-year-old resilient woman from Bhainswahi, Mandla.
On 15 June Sultana Bi saw havoc all over her vicinity. Little did she know what her fate had to offer. Sultana saw police dragging her neighbours out of their houses, bulldozers turning their homes into dust. One by one the houses collapsed and next came Sultana’s house. Tears rolling down her eyes, she tried to resist but failed. Today she stands on a barren land, asking for justice. Raising her voice fearlessly.
Her resilience could attract Miles2Smile to travel 560 miles to reach Bhainswahi, Mandla, to talk to her. Seeing her courage, we were dumbstruck. What a powerful lady she is! But her power should not stop; Sultana Bi needs support.
To help her raise her voice, it’s our collective responsibility to provide her with basic necessities. She needs food to eat and a roof to live. Join us on Sultana’s journey and contribute your share.
