On October 13, a violent clash broke out during a Durga idol immersion procession in Bahraich, leading to one death and many injuries. The chaos quickly escalated, with properties set on fire, vehicles destroyed, and trees reduced to ash, turning life into a nightmare for local residents.
As the events made headlines, Miles2Smile chose to visit Bahraich to connect with the affected community. We met Rafiq, a physically challenged E-rickshaw driver from the village. This was his only source of income, as he was unable to work in other fields. During the unrest, the crowd vandalized and burned his rickshaw, jeopardizing the future of his family of six. Through this fundraiser, we aim to help him by purchasing a new E-rickshaw.
