This Ramadan, be the reason a widow sleeps without worry and an orphan smiles with bliss. (Zakat Applicable)As we welcome the month of Rehma, let's reach out to support the most vulnerable members of our community - widows and orphans who have survived mob lynching, communal violence, and systematic oppression. Alongside them are refugee women who have been separated from their husbands due to wrongful incarceration. The words of our beloved Prophet ﷺ serve not just as a reminder, but as a call to serve our higher purpose:"The one who looks after a widow or a poor person is like a Mujahid (warrior) who fights for Allah's cause, or like one who prays all night and fasts all day." (Bukhari, 5353) "I and the one who looks after an orphan shall be in Paradise like these two"—and he ﷺ raised his index and middle fingers, holding them together with only a slight gap. (Bukhari, 5304)Alhamdullilah, at Miles2Smile, we have been blessed with the opportunity to support more than 1,000 families for over 5 years now. This Ramadan, we strive to support 104 widows and 132 orphans by providing them with specially curated ration kits designed to meet their needs during Ramadan, ensuring they have nourishing meals for suhoor and iftar. Each ration kit is thoughtfully prepared to sustain an individual for an entire month, costing ₹ 1820 per adult and ₹ 1600 per child. This kit is more than just food; it is security, dignity, and a means for struggling families to observe Ramadan without the fear of hunger.
