An allegation. A rumor. And a group is all that took away Mobina’s peace and prosperity. Her husband, a 25-year-old young man, a loving husband and a caring father, was beaten to death in broad daylight on Sunday, earlier this week, leaving behind four children, the eldest aged 6, to wait for their father to come back—a wait that will never stop.
Mobina’s husband, Shahzad Ali, was sitting inside his home when he was dragged out by a group of at least seven persons, tied to a tree and beaten until he lost his breath. Meanwhile, Mobina was pleading in front of the group to stop the assault, but blows kept coming. Kicks, sticks, and punches all over the body, turning it black and blue.
“Some people came to the house and, under the pretext of friendship, took Shahzad outside. They then brutally beat him, tied him to a tree, and continued assaulting him,” Mobina told Miles2Smile.
“As soon as I found out, I ran to the spot and pleaded with everyone, but no one listened to me and no one tried to stop it,” she added, tears crossing her dry cheeks in a stream.
“What will I do without him, with my children?” she said with a voice that showed no signs of hope.
Atrocities are not new to Mobina and her family; a few months ago, Shahzad’s elder brother, Naushad, was found dead hanging in a tree in suspicious condition. Naushad’s death brought additional financial responsibility on Shahzad, which he very lovingly endured. However, the lynching of Shahzad has left the family with no source of income and relief.
