The timings of the pogrom added woes to the victims. At that time of the year board exams were conducted. The very first family we rescued from Shiv Vihar brought us to our notice that their kids had board exams and during the violence, they had lost their books and most importantly their admit cards. The students were in distress and required immediate counseling. We were able to arrange the copies of their admit cards and our team members accompanied them to their exam centers. After taking care of this primary concern, we mapped the whole violence-affected area extensively with an aim to identify more than 200 kids who have either lost their family bread earner or the working member have been severely injured. We will be sponsoring their education. Along with these, we have also started “Smile Classes”. The purpose of Smile Classes is to work on such teaching-learning process where we can promote more active interactions between students and teachers. Its aim is to enhance the self-learning ability and to promote hidden talents. We are also in the process of adopting one such school that has been devasted in the pogrom.
